The Miami-Dade Military Museum and Memorial is honored to be donating a library set of military history books to each of the 27 Miami-Dade County Public Schools JROTC Programs. United States military history curriculum allows educators to reach high school student’s interests, encourage career and citizenship skills, understand our country’s military history, as well as fulfill a variety of social studies standard requirements. Learning about military history helps students become engaged and thoughtful citizens by expanding their knowledge base, developing vital critical thinking and decision-making skills, and enhancing their understanding of the United States’ and others’ cultures. Studying military history identifies models of self-discipline, bravery, and intellectual curiosity through the stories of those who have served. Pictured are the South Miami Senior High School JROTC instructors and cadets receiving their class set of military books in April.
